Kristie Middleton (Adviser)

Kristie Middleton is managing director of Farm Animal Protection for The Humane Society of the United States and the author ofMeatLess: Transform the Way You Eat and Live—One Meal at a Time. She’s a sought-after speaker and thought leader on plant-based eating. Middleton has partnered with the nation’s biggest school districts including Los Angeles, Detroit, and Boston as well as some of the world’s largest food service companies to implement plant-based initiatives. Her work has been covered by national media, including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, and CNN.

Josh Balk (Adviser)

Josh Balk is Vice President at the Humane Society of the United States where he helps build start-up companies in the food tech arena.  Since starting with The HSUS in 2005, he has worked with many of the largest corporations in the world to improve animal welfare in their supply chains.  Kraft, ConAgra, Wendy's, Kroger, Denny's, Kellogg, Sysco, and Heinz are among the many companies Balk helped to establish animal welfare policies. Josh also works with the world’s largest food companies, such as Walmart, McDonald’s, and Starbucks, to create more humane, sustainable purchasing policies. The New York TimesFortune magazine, and CNN are among the many media outlets to spotlight his work.

Bruce Friedrich (Adviser)

Bruce Friedrich is co-founder and executive director of The Good Food Institute, a 501(c)(3) that promotes innovative alternatives to industrial animal agriculture, and co-founder of New Crop Capital, a $25 million venture fund that invests in companies that are using food technology to create products that will outcompete the products of factory farming. USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, and many other publications spotlight his work. Bruce has presented repeatedly at most of the nation's top universities, including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT. Bruce graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown Law and Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College. He also holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics.

Curt Albright (MM)

Curt Albright is Managing Member of the Fund.  Mr. Albright is a financial expert, donor, and experienced investor who specializes in balance sheet management, risk assessment, start-up and early stage enterprises with particular expertise in the financial and bank (lending and investment) space.  From 1991 until August 2017, Mr. Albright was Sr. Vice President at Vining Sparks, IBG. in Charlotte, NC.  While at Vining Sparks, he focused on financial transactions with commercial banks in the $500mm - 5B asset range, crafting balance sheet solutions to interest rate and corporate balance sheet risks, while helping to increase earnings and cash flow.  Mr. Albright retired from Vining Sparks to become Managing Member at Clear Current Capital.
